CONTRIBUTIONS of original writing, poems or drawings connected to any aspect of Jung’s work are welcome for consideration here. Constructive comments on site welcome.

A very rough outline of Jung's analysis of shadow self is that it is all those potential versions of yourself - had events or choices taken a different route in your life - with a tendency to emphasise any polar differences (e.g. decision to take a 9 to 5 job rather than undertaking a busking tour of the world) extrovert-introvert, gambler - risk averse &c.

Jung is particularly good for dealing with the "mid-life crisis" (another Jung invention) type of issues. A key theme is found in Freud's Civilisation and its Discontents (1930) regards irreconcilable schism between instincts for aggression & sexual dominance of primate societies against desire for security and ease of life offered by civilisation. This ambivalence seems built into the human condition as a result of evolution. [Continued Next Page]
